Middlefield Children's Center Invites Public to Community BBQ
The school's 3rd annual fundraiser will take place on Saturday, from 4-7 p.m. at Peckham Park.

The Middlefield Children's Center will host the school's 3rd annual Community BBQ at Peckham Park on Saturday, May 18 from 4-7 p.m.
The family-friendly event is open to the public and features live music, food, games and raffle giveaways which all serve to support MCC in its largest yearly fundraiser. "I'm very excited for the BBQ this year," said MCC president Meredith Quicquaro.
"We have local artist Lindsay Arktop performing again and our pulled pork sandwiches are being prepared by the very well known Hogan Brothers." Activities for the kids include a bounce house, magic show, face painting, fire department touch-a-truck and the return of Mr. Jeff.
"The infamous Mr. Jeff has agreed to reprise his role for the kids favorite event of the day: Pie Mr. Jeff in the Face!"
Food will be served from the Middlefield Lions Club Pavilion including hot dogs and hamburgers, salads, desserts and drinks. In addition, Chet's Italian Ice of New BritainΒ will be available for everyone to chill out.
"The weather forcast is looking good, and everyone in the preschool community is working really hard. It's going to be a great day of family fun," Quicquaro said.
MCC will also be offering more than 20 raffle baskets and other prizes that include a 40-inch flatscreen TV, a girls' and boys' bike, a family four-pack to a New Britain Rockcats game, a bus trip for two to Mohegan Sun, restaurant gift certificates and much more.
Of course, the picnic would not be possible if not for all of the generous donations made by local businesses
"We've received a lot of support from businesses in the Middlefield, Durham and even Middletown communities. It's really inspiring when you see businesses still willing to donate goods and services in such a tough economy. We're very grateful for all the support we've received," Quicquaro said.
