Multiple Arrests Around Middletown for Disorderly Conduct

Police responded to reports of a large group of "school-age" kids fighting.

Tuesday evening ended with multiple arrests for disorderly conduct around Middletown.

Around 4 p.m. Middletown Police Officers responded to reports of a fight involving juveniles on Spring Street near Macdonough Elementary School. Officers arrived a short time after and observed around 35-40 β€œschool-age kids” walking away - but no fighting.

A few hours later at 6:47 p.m. Officer Daniel Spedding observed two male youths in a group of about 25 arguing and getting ready to fight.

When he went to break up the pair, Officer Spedding reports he was surrounded by β€œ20-25 screaming juveniles.” Spedding radioed for back-up and told the youths to leave the area. Some did and those who remained kept yelling β€œf*** the police. F*** the police.”

Officer Spedding reports that one Tysnick Darrell Hoggard, 22, of 10 Glover Place, refused to leave the area and β€œhad his arms folded and looked at [him] with a menacing stare as if [he] wasn’t there.” Following Hoggard’s lead, other youths began cursing, yelling and screaming.

Hoggard was taken into custody and charged with interfering with police. He was later bailed out of lock up a short time later on a $5,000 bond. He is due to appear in court on July 7.

Police also arrested Sherry T. McDaniel, 43, of 100 Thomas Street, and Andrelees Maria Mantilla-Solano, 17, of 17 Rapallo Ave., for interfering with police and disorderly conduct. Police report say both refused to leave the scene and Β repeated β€œf*** the police.” Solano posted the $5,000 bond and is due to appear in court on July 7.

Police officials told The Middletown Press these disruptions were unlikely to be gang related. β€œIt more has to do with the warm weather,” said Lt. Heather Desmond, a spokesperson for the police department, to the paper. β€œMore kids are outside, playing sports or doing whatever.”
