Referendum, All-Stars, Sunflower Maze and More Durham-Middlefield Events This Week

Here's a brief look at some of the happenings in town between July 22-28.

The Coginchaug 12-year-old All-Stars will play South Windsor for the Section 2 championship on Tuesday in Harwinton. First pitch is at 5:30 p.m. Coginchaug needs two wins vs. SW to advance to the state championship game. If you can't make it to Harwinton, tune into CPTV on Tuesday for a live broadcast of the game.

Middlefield Referendum Voters in Middlefield and Rockfall will head to the polls on Tuesday to vote on a proposal to sell the remaining Powder Ridge ski area property — 19.67 acres — to local resident Lori Vogel-Brown. The polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Middlefield Community Center. 

Candidates to be Announced Republican and Democratic caucuses will meet this week to select their slate of candidates for this fall's election. Check back with Patch for details.

Tween Photography Workshop The Levi E. Coe Library in Middlefield invites tweens interested in photography to stop by for a Andrew Goldsworthy themed photo workshop on Wedesday, July 24. Participants will have the opportunity to exhibit their work in August. For Ages 8-14. 

Lyman Orchards' Sunflower Maze opens on Saturday, July 27. Purchase Tickets online and save $1 per ticket when you use the discount code:Patch. Lyman Orchards donates $1 of every admission ticket to the Pediatric Cancer unit of Connecticut Children's Medical Center. To date, the Sunflower Mazes have raised over $35,000 for CCMC.
