Rockfall Man Arrested for DUI in Middletown

Police say Tyler Rogers, 25, drove onto a sidewalk and through a sign before refusing to perform field sobriety tests.

Middletown police say a Rockfall man was arrested last week after driving a truck onto a sidewalk and through a city sign.

Tyler Rogers, 25, of 8 Lorraine Terrace, was charged with operating under the influence, operating a motor vehicle without insurance, failure to renew registration, failure to drive in the proper lane and evading responsibility.

At approximately 9:10 p.m. on March 27, according to police, Rogers was seen driving a Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck without its headlights on along Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Way in Middletown.

When he attempted to turn right onto deKoven Drive, Rogers drove onto the sidewalk and hit a Middletown city sign, smashing it into several pieces, a report says.

He continued driving for a quarter mile before pulling over, according to the report. Police say Rogers admitted to drinking a beer and was stumbling but refused to perform field sobriety tests.

During a search of the vehicle police confiscated a black hunting knife from the center console. Rogers was placed under arrest and his bond was set at $500.

He's due in court April 10.
