Summer in Connecticut Exhibit Features Killingworth Artist

Cora Ogden's paintings are on display at the Susan Powell Fine Art gallery in Madison through September.

Susan Powell said the artists being shown in "Summer in Connecticutt", which runs through September 30, are an exclusive crowd.

"I've known them for about eight years," she said of the the 23 artists in the show. "I just went to their studios and picked out what I liked."

Powell said the pool of artists live nearby or paint landscapes familiar to Connecticut regulars.

Artist Cora Ogden, of Killingworth, said she went to Leetes Island and knocked on doors until she got permission to paint "Morning Haze" and "Summer Morning, Incoming Tide."

"I was just swept away by the the light and beauty there," she said of the island.Β

Ogden said the three plein airΒ paintings, created in early July "were very compliant, they wanted to be put on canvas."

"Summer in CT" opened July 29 at gallery, located atΒ 679 Boston Post Rd,Β Madison,Β and features work by Roxann Leibenhaut, Kathy Anderson, Peter Bergeron, Karen Blackwood, Lou Bonamarte, Deborah Chabrian, Susan Jositas, Jim Magner, Edward Martinez, Leonard Mizerek, Cora Ogden, Yves Parent, Kimberly Ruggiero, Dennis Sheehan, Elizab eth L. Strazzulla, Sally Swatland, Sadie Valeri, George Van Hook, and Carolyn Walton.
