12 inventions from sixth grade students from Memorial School were accepted into the Connecticut's Invention Convention. The CIC will take place at UCONN on May 4.
A total of 75 students from the Integrated program participated. The school cafeteria was converted into a middle-school imaginarium so the inventions could be shared with the rest of the student body, faculty and parents.
There were many well-engineered models presented. Observed by a panel of four judges, each invention was evaluated with the following criteria: originality, attention to detail, purpose and practicality, adherence to guidelines and presentation.
Bill Currlin, a former school board member was one of the community members who judged the event. He happily returned after judging previous years saying, "I look forward to this event every year. It's a creative and fascinating how each time around, there are new ideas."
The following students were chosen to move on to the statewide competition held at Gampel Pavillion, on the UCONN campus in Storrs, on May 4th:
Peter Schulten with The Pedal-Lit
