UPDATE: Dogs Rescued In Fire That Destroyed Home, GoFundMe Created
A resident of the Warwick Lane home escaped but was hospitalized, and firefighters got 3 trapped dogs out, though 1 dog died at the scene.

Update: The East Haven Animal Shelter has created a GoFundMe to help the family whose house is now uninhabitable, and whose dog is hospitalized.
EAST HAVEN, CT — Monday morning just before 11 a.m., the East Haven Fire Department was called to a house fire on Warwick Lane, according to Fire Chief Matt Marcarelli.
When firefighters arrived, they found fire in the first floor rear kitchen, extending to the second floor with heavy smoke conditions, Marcarelli said. Firefighters managed to get the fire under control in around 20 minutes, Marcarelli said.

"One occupant had already self evacuated, but there were three canines trapped within the house," the chief said. Firefighters rescued and performed life-saving measures on the dogs, but "one succumbed at the scene," he said. A second dog was taken by East Haven's animal control officers to a veterinary hospital. The third dog "seems to be doing well," Marcarelli said.

Under investigation by the East Haven Fire Marshals office, Marcarelli said, the fire "appears to have started in the kitchen area." The house sustained extensive fire and smoke damage and is currently uninhabitable.
