Despite Mailings, Stacey Not Quitting East Haven Mayoral Campaign

Jack Stacey: "I am not a rich man and it would be very sad the day politics fell only to rich people."

Despite his financial struggles being mailed throughout town, Democrat Jack Stacey said he will continue his East Haven mayoral campaign.

Earlier this year, anonymous mailings were sent out to East Haven residents detailing Stacey's financial struggles, most notably how his house was almost foreclosed on. Yet the New Haven Register reports that despite the "embarrassing" mailings, Stacey said he will not quit his campaign, saying he fell on hard times like many others in town.

“I am not a rich man and it would be very sad the day politics fell only to rich people," Stacey, who works as a teacher for New Haven’s High School in the Community, told the newspaper.
