EAST HAVEN, CT — Due to a hoarding and cruelty case in Woodbridge, East Haven Animal Control is caring for seven of 20 small dogs taken from the home and distributed among nearby shelters who have room in the inn.

"These poor babies are in horrible condition," the shelter noted on Facebook.

According to local media, the homeowner has been charged with dozens of counts of animal cruelty. Read more here.

In a Facebook post, the East Haven Animal Shelter thanked Mount Carmel Veterinary Hospital and Happy Tails Too Dog and Cat Grooming for taking in three of the worst of the seven to help remove the matts and get them cleaned up?"

The dogs are not currently up for adoption, and the other five will be going to Branford Veterinary Hospital Tuesday for a medical evaluation.

"They are all super, super sweet and as soon as they are available we will let everyone know," the shelter posted.

For now, the need is Purina Pro Plan wet puppy food.

"And if anyone would like to donate towards their medical care, it would greatly be appreciated," the shelter shared. "Again, a big thanks to all involved. We couldn't do what we do without all of you!"
