Internal Affairs Investigation: East Haven Cop Dennis Spaulding's Actions Were Justified

Dennis Spaulding, an East Haven police officer who has been on paid administrative leave since July of 2011, has been exonerated of racial profiling in an internal affairs investigation.

An East Haven Police Officer who has been on paid administrative leave for almost two years for allegedly profiling Latinos in town has been exonerated of all wrongdoing by an internal affairs investigation.

Dennis Spaulding, an East Haven Police Officer, was put on paid administrative leave in July of 2011 after he was accused by Town Fair Management of waiting around the East Haven business for Latino employees to come and go so he could pull them over and check their documentation, according to the Register.

However, a May 9 internal affairs investigation found that there was "sufficient evidence which indicates the act or incident did occur, but the actions were justified, lawful and proper," according to the Register.

Spaulding has earned more than $87,000 since being placed on leave, according to the New Haven Register. As of Tuesday, Spaulding was still on leave, according to the Register.
