East Haven Fall Classic 5K Road Race Coming Soon

The race will take place the morning of Fall Festival weekend, Saturday, Sept. 12.

The inaugural East Haven Fall Classic 5K Road Race is quickly approaching and will take place the Saturday morning of Fall Festival weekend, Saturday Sept. 12, starting from the East Haven Town Green, according to a press release.

The event is presented through the sponsorship of East Haven Attorney Andrew M. Amendola, with the race being coordinated by Race Director Joe Riccio and the Warren Street Social and Athletic Club of Connecticut.

Net proceeds will benefit the East Haven Food Pantry, Springs Learning Center and the East Haven Animal Shelter.

In addition to the 5K there will also be a 2 mile Fitness Walk and two Kid Fun Runs for ages 6 and under and 7 to 11 years of age. The events will take place on Saturday Sept. 12 with the following scheduled start times:

  • Kid’s Fun Run (6 years old and under) — 9:15 a.m.
  • Kid’s Fun Run (7 to 11 years old) — 9:30 a.m.
  • 5K Road Race & 2-mile Fitness Walk — 10:00 a.m.

For many years until 2011, the East Haven Fall Festival, Inc. hosted similar events each Saturday during the Festival weekend, but the activities have been absent from the annual free festival for the past three years. The 5K will be held on a new flat certified course and it will be a USATF Sanctioned race.

Applications may also be obtained at Mayor Maturo’s office in East Haven Town Hall, 250 Main St.
