EAST HAVEN, CT — At around 6:3o Tuesday night, while en route to a structure fire in the Foxon area, an East Haven Fire Department engine was struck by a hit-and-run driver, police said.

Engine 4, with its emergency lights and sirens activated, was headed from its station on George Street down Hemingway Avenue when a red Scion TC, possibly with black doors, failed to yield and turned directly in front of the fire truck, East Haven Police Capt. Joseph M. Murgo said.

"The collision caused significant front end damage to Engine 4, but fortunately, no firefighters were injured," Murgo added.
