East Haven Resident Among Diamond Club Hall Of Fame Inductees
The Southern Connecticut Diamond Club will honor eight people at its 16th Annual Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremony this fall.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — The Southern Connecticut Diamond Club, Inc., will hold its 16th Annual Hall of Fame Banquet and Induction Ceremony on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at The Woodwinds in Branford. Among the honorees is North Haven native Pete Civitello, currently of East Haven.
The SCDC, a non-profit, volunteer-run organization whose stated mission is to foster and promote the game of baseball in the southern Connecticut region, will recognize eight individuals in the Class of 2024. SCDC Hall of Fame members are selected by the group's Executive Board.

Tickets to the 2024 SCDC Hall of Fame dinner are $60 per person and will only be sold in advance. Tickets can be purchased online here or by contacting Rose V. Mentone, Executive Director, at RMentone@comcast.net.
Civitello, a 1994 North Haven High School graduate, captained Albertus Magnus College to the 1998 Great Northeast Athletic Conference championship. He then played three seasons in the West Haven Twilight League before venturing into coaching, beginning in the Max Sinoway Little League and the Connecticut Bombers travel program.

Prior to the 2003 season, Civitello was appointed the head baseball coach at Guilford High School, a position he held for 10 years. In 2007, he guided GHS to the Southern Connecticut Conference Hammonasset Division championship, the SCC Tournament crown, and the CIAC Class L state title. Guilford achieved a final state ranking of No. 2. GHS repeated as division champion in 2008 and was ranked seventh in the state. He also led North Haven High to the SCC championship in boys’ basketball in 2010.
Civitello possesses a bachelor of arts degree in sociology from Albertus Magnus (1998), a master’s from the University of New Haven (2003), and a sixth-year degree from Southern Connecticut State University (2012). He is the Director of Secondary School Leadership for Meriden Public Schools and the co-owner of the Northeast Clutch travel baseball program.
Also being honored by the SCDC this year are former Notre Dame High School and Wesleyan University standout Mark Consorte (Notre Dame HS-West Haven ‘88), two-time Derby High School all-stater Joe Lizza (Derby HS ‘95), former New York Mets draftee Michael Moras (Amity Regional HS ‘04), longtime Southern Connecticut State University head coach Tim Shea (Notre Dame HS-West Haven ‘82) and former Quinnipiac College slugger Vincent Siena Jr. (West Haven HS ‘82). Frank Pallone of Shelton will be presented the Andrew Gassira Memorial Umpire Award, and Matthew F. Mentone of Durham is the winner of the Tony Mentone Memorial Distinguished Service Award.
