East Haven Rotary Club Honors Its Last 2023-2024 Students Of The Month

EAST HAVEN, CT —The East Haven Rotary Club recently honored their last Student of the Month recipients for the 2023-2024 academic year.

The April Student of the Month is from the Art Department. Brandom Santos is a member of the AMA Raptors Wrestling Club. He would like to attend an art college.

Evan Martinez is the May Student of the Month from the Music/Drama Department. Evan participates in both the Drama and the Media Clubs. His future plans are to become an electrician, with the hope to pursue his dream of becoming an actor.

The final Student of the Month for this academic year is Alexa Heaphy. Alexa has been a three-year starter on the EHHS Softball team, being named the captain in her Junior year. She also plays on the volleyball team. Alexa also participates in a number of clubs: SCC Spring Sports Captains Council; National Honor Society and the President of the Class of 2025 during her freshman and sophomore years. Alexa plans to attend a college on the East coast and major in business or health science.

Each month, the Rotary recognizes a student from East Haven High School's junior class. The club makes these presentations at Superintendent Erica Forti’s monthly, District Wide Students of the Month Assembly, which takes place the last Friday of the month in the Media Center at the high school.

The East Haven Rotary Club presents each honoree with a certificate, a Rotary commemorative coin and a check for $100. Winners then become eligible for the $1,000 Jack Leary Memorial Scholarship to be awarded at the end of their senior year.

The Club, now in its 86th year was organized on March 3, 1939.
