East Haven Superintendent of Schools, Portia Bonner, made disparaging comments about the district, including remarks about parents, in email exchanges with a school board member, Thomas S. Hennessey, the New Haven Register reported.

Undated, candid emails were sent to Hennessey from her school account, saying some parents are bullies with no respect for authority, as well as suggesting that dysfunctional or non-existent family structures are affecting students in negative ways, the Register reported.

All of the emails in the thread were posted to a Facebook page for East Haven parents Tuesday by Lina Travers, who is a resident with two teens in the district, the Register reported. More than 70 people commented on the post with their opinions regarding the matter.

Travers told the Register she received the emails in her mailbox and posted them online to reportedly show people how Bonner feels about the district.
