East Haven's Admin Director Benivegna Named Clinton Town Manager

Michelle Benivegna will be that town's second-ever Town Manager; East Haven Mayor said she'll be missed but supported "pursuit" of new role.

CLINTON, CT —The Clinton Town Council voted unanimously in naming Michelle Benivegna its second Town Manager.

Benivegna has been serving as East Haven's Director of Administration and Management, Director of Human Resources, and Economic Development Director. The Council noted her "impressive career trajectory in municipal government ...instills confidence in her ability to lead our town."

"Taking on the role of town manager in the Town of Clinton is an exciting opportunity," Benivegna was quoted as saying. "The goal is to work collaboratively with the town council, residents, town departments, and local businesses to fulfill the council's vision. Together, efforts will continue to advance economic development while also striving for the town's overall progress. Being selected for this role is a privilege, and it is with great enthusiasm that I look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead. I am ready to get to work, and will always remain committed to encouraging and supporting new, creative ideas for the advancement of this very special community. "

East Haven Mayor Joseph A. Carfora, who's had Benivegna was a right hand since he was elected to his first term in 2019, said that while she was "an invaluable voice in my administration," he "strongly supported Michelle's pursuit of this new position" calling it a "natural step forward in her career."

"Together, we tackled numerous issues in our ongoing efforts to advance the Town of East Haven. I often reflect on her relentless dedication during the COVID-19 pandemic, a time filled with uncertainty," Carfora said. "If Michelle encountered something unfamiliar, she would master it and quickly become one of the most knowledgeable voices in the room. Her contributions covered a vast array of community needs, and she will be greatly missed."
