East Haven's New Chief Keeping Department Moving Forward

East Haven, CT - East Haven's new police chief is happy to be leading the department forward.
Chief Ed Lennon told The East Haven Courierthat he wants the department to keep progressing.
“'My goals are to keep us on our upward trend—I don’t like being stagnant—and continue to be on forefront on 21st century policing,'" Lennon told The Courier.

Lennon, a 15-year veteran of the East Haven Police Department, was promoted to chief in June and started the official position July 1.
The new chief also told The Courier officer health and wellness and youth issues are important issues to him.

East Haven's mayor said in a statement that Lennon is the right man to continue to keep the department moving forward.
" As our Police Department continues to move forward, we must ensure that we appoint leaders who are capable of preserving the accountability, transparency, and tolerance that we have worked so hard to restore within our Police Department," Mayor Mayor Joseph Maturo, Jr. said in a press release. "I have the utmost of confidence that Ed Lennon and James Naccarato are capable of doing so and that they will lead our Police Department with dignity and pride for years to come."
"Ed Lennon's ascension to the role of Police Chief in East Haven is an indicator of the department's growth, progress, and readiness to lead itself," Maturo stated in the official press release. "As we approach the anticipated termination date of the police department's agreement with the Department of Justice, it is only fitting that an outstanding police professional like Ed Lennon assumes leadership of the department."
