EAST HAVEN, CT — Fans of fringe art and old-fashioned treasures won't want to miss the first "New England Antiques & Oddities Exhibition," which will take place at The Beeracks brewery on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Nearly 30 vendors will set up shop at the exhibition, selling turn-of-the-century antiques, taxidermy, visual art, prints, medical anomalies, old-fashioned photography, wet specimens, vintage clothing, crystals, and more, Joseph Zembrowski, who help organized the event, told Patch.

Most of the vendors hail from southern Connecticut, and all are New England locals, Zembrowski said.

"We’re locally-based, locally-promoted, and locally appreciated," Zembrowski said. " Every aspect of this event helps to promote the local arts and oddities community here in our niche neck of the woods."

Connecticut has a bustling community of fringe artists, Zembrowski said, which he said made East Haven an ideal place for "some odd appreciation."

"The main reason I would encourage the community to come would be to help ignite a passion for art," Zembrowski said. "To find a place where you can truly be who you are without fear of judgement or repression. To go some place where the weirder you are the better."

All are welcome and accepted, Zembrowski said, and there will be something for everyone at the exhibition.

"I cannot stress the 'all are welcome' aspect enough," he said. "This isn’t a gate-keeping community, this isn’t a hateful community, this is an openly strange and unusual cast of characters who are just happy to get some spotlight and appreciation."

Live music will be performed from 5 to 6 p.m., and there is a $5 suggested donation. The Beeracks is located at 250 Bradley Street.

"I’d like to extend my thanks to the various individuals over at The Beeracks in East Haven, Connecticut for allowing an event of this magnitude to take place at their venue," Zembrowski said. "A special thanks to both Armada Brewing and Hoax Brewing for being so accommodating and helpful throughout the event planning process and dealing with the various oddballs that come along with these events."
