Penny, a white Maltese who has cancer, was frightened by fireworks her owner said, and went missing Monday near Silver Sands Road.

Monday in the area of Silver Sands Road, a white Maltese with "apricot ears," was reported missing.

According to a Facebook post from the East Haven Animal Shelter, "Penny," was "frightened by neighbors fireworks." The dog has cancer, her owner was quoted as saying.
