Obituary: Alphonse V. Paolillo Sr., 83, of East Haven

Alphonse V. Paolillo Sr, 83 of East Haven, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at CT Hospice in Branford on Tuesday December 5, 2023. Alphonse was born in Mount Vernon, NY on January 25, 1940 to the late Alfonso and Angelina (Lieto) Paolillo. He was the brother to the late May Pallotto and Joseph Paolillo. He was a loving husband for 58 years to the late Patricia (Imperato) Paolillo.

Alphonse was a retired Master Gardener at Yale University and was recognized for his outstanding workmanship by the Yale faculty and leaders. As a devoted Union Steward at Yale, he worked tirelessly to advocate for the rights and well-being of his fellow colleagues.

Alphonse and Patricia loved traveling to many places including: Italy, Hawaii, Alaska, the Caribbean and they attended various Super Bowls. He found joy in bowling, trips to the Mohegan Sun, New York Yankees and the timeless tunes of Johnny Cash and Elvis. His fondest moments were spent with beloved family and friends, celebrating the connections that meant the most to him.

Alphonse is survived by his children Vincent Paolillo, Patricia & Ken Burke, Alphonse & Angelica Paolillo, Michele & John DeCaprio, his son in law Farook Hakim and his eight loving grandchildren. In addition, he was predeceased by his two daughters, Mary Ann Hakim and Nancy Paolillo.

Funeral arrangements for Alphonse have been made for Saturday, December 9, 2023. Calling hours will be from 9:00 - 11:00 AM at East Haven Memorial Funeral Home 425 Main St East Haven. His funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 11 AM for Mass at St. Vincent DePaul Church at 11:30 AM. Burial will immediately follow at All Saints Cemetery - Mausoleum in North Haven.
