Obituary: Magdalen Madeline Pacelli Sparaco, 94 formerly of East Haven
She served as a politician and a public servant during her decades of service to the Town of East Haven from Mayoral assistant to Selectman.
EAST HAVEN, CT —Longtime East Haven public and civil servant and volunteer Magdalen “Madeline” Pacelli Sparaco, 94, passed away Sept. 6.
Besides working alongside her late husband at Sparaco’s Market in Hamden for 24 years, she worked for the Town of East Haven as Executive Secretary to the late Mayor Robert Norman and as Deputy Director of Welfare. Both politician and public servant, in her service to the Town of East Haven, she was a member of the Board of Selectman, Zoning Board of Appeals, and numerous other boards and committees from League of Women Voters to the Food Pantry and appointments as Justice of the Peace. She was one of the founding members of the Land Trust and ETV where she was a commentator and producer. After her retirement in 1997, she continued as an active member in many organizations and started a new chapter working at her nephew’s law firm of Grillo and Pacelli.
