Pandemic-Stalled For Years, 'Home2 Suites By Hilton' Hotel Opens
The old Quality Inn was torn down to make way for the all-suites hotel on Frontage Road in East Haven.
EAST HAVEN, CT — Time flies. Seems like just yesterday, East Haven firefighters used the then-recently demolished motel for training exercise. But it was a year ago. Last week, after years of planning, stalled because of the pandemic, the rundown Quality Inn was reborn as the brand new Home2 Suites by Hilton on Frontage Road in East Haven.
East Haven Mayor Joseph A. Carfora was among the first to get a tour.
"The hotel looks great inside and out," he said. " We are happy to welcome this positive new addition to East Haven."

It's been a long time coming for the pandemic-interrupted project.
As reported by Patch in 2021 and in 2022, the East Haven Planning & Zoning Commission had in 2020 approved the 103-room Home2 Suites hotel by applicant Gary Desai of Darbar LLC. It took months, beginning in early spring of 2023, to raze the old motel and begin construction.
