Police Stuff-A-Cruiser Event To Support Food Pantry Set For Saturday

EAST HAVEN, CT —Members of East Haven Police Department Union 275 are holding a 'stuff-a-cruiser' food drive at Stop & Shop, 370 Hemingway Ave., on Saturday, Dec. 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

"Any size donation will help us help those in need during the holiday season," police wrote on Facebook. "We are hearing Santa will be joining us and will be available to take pictures with anyone who donates."

Donations benefit the East Haven Food Pantry.

According to the food pantry website, it's always in need of pasta, sauce, cereals, hot cereals, peanut butter, jelly, macaroni and cheese, canned tuna, canned soup, rice sides, pancake mix, instant mashed potatoes, and stuffing.

The pantry also notes that many children in East Haven "suffer from food instability."

Donations of specific child-friendly items are also always needed. Those include canned soup, prepared canned pasta, individual bags of chips, crackers, and cookies, fruit/applesauce cups, pudding, granola bars, juice boxes, mac & cheese, shelf stable milk, and individual cereal containers.
