East Haven Man Points 'Rifle' During Dispute Over Loud Music: Police

The incident prompted a brief shelter-in-place and lockdown order at Momauguin School​, police said.

EAST HAVEN, CT — Police said Tuesday evening that an arrest has been made following a "threatening/firearms complaint," which prompted a brief shelter-in-place and lockdown order at Momauguin School.

Police said at 8:10 a.m. police responded to a report of a firearm-related disturbance at Breezewood Condominiums, 130 Coe Ave.

Police said the complainant reported being threatened by a man, who allegedly pointed a rifle at him from a condominium window during a verbal altercation.

As a precaution, a brief shelter-in-place order was issued to area residents, and Momauguin School was placed on lockdown until "we were confident the scene was secure," police added.

Police said their investigation led to the arrest of Vincent Esposito, 50, of Coe Avenue, who is accused of pointing a "rifle at the complainant while making verbal threats during the dispute, which stemmed from a complaint about loud music coming from a car while it was warming up."

Police said a BB rifle matching the description provided by the complainant was located within the residence. The BB gun was seized and secured. No injuries were reported.

Esposito was charged with the following:

  • Threatening in the First Degree
  • Carrying or Sale of a Dangerous Weapon
  • Breach of Peace in the Second Degree

Esposito is currently being held on a $100,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 5, 2025.
