The project will include paving Main Street from Town Hall to the New Haven line, and paving Messina Drive from Hemingway Avenue to Main Street. On Messina Drive, the improvements will also feature a new and much-needed traffic signal light, new sidewalks, and upgraded street lighting to improve both safety and accessibility.
"We have nearly completed the environmental review and traffic study requirements tied to this grant, which puts us in a strong position to move quickly into final design and construction. These improvements will modernize our roadways, improve traffic flow, and provide safer conditions for pedestrians," Carfora said. "We thank the Connecticut Department of Transportation and the South Central Regional Council of Governments for their partnership in making these long-needed upgrades a reality.”
