Subway Worker Refused To Give Money To Attempted Robber: East Haven PD

The suspect handed over a note demanding money, and police said the cashier gave it back to the attempted robber and kept working.

EAST HAVEN, CT — Police are investigating an attempted robbery that took place at Subway at 199 Main St. in East Haven on Sunday.

Police said the suspect “slipped a note to the cashier demanding money.”

“The cashier read the note, handed it back to the suspect and continued to work, refusing to hand over any money,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “The confused suspect then tried to open the register but failed and decided it was time to leave, making off with absolutely nothing.”

No weapons were displayed, according to police.

Police are asking for help with identifying the suspect (pictured). He was wearing gray sweatpants, a black and gray long-sleeved shirt, a dark-colored hat and a face mask.

“We would love to talk to him,” police wrote. “He was last seen on foot headed through the Stop and Shop parking lot towards Hemingway Avenue.”
