The End Of A 34-Year-Old East Haven Tradition?
There was no oldies show put on by the East Haven Police Union this year, and there might never be one again.

This year, for the first time since 1978, there was no oldies concert put on by the East Haven Police Union.
In 1979, the East Haven Police Union held an oldies concert as a fundraiser for the police union and the community, and it was held every year since, according to the New Haven Register. However, there was no concert this year, and there might never be one again.
East Haven Police Union President Robert Ranfone told the Register that he would try to bring back the concert next year, but was skeptical it would work. He said the union still raises money in different ways, but said the culture of the union - and society - is changing.

“Young kids coming up have different goals,” Ranfone told the newspaper. “I don’t think it’s the music; it’s how you were brought up. When I was brought up, we helped out.”
