Well Respected East Haven Police Officer Retiring From Force
Officer Torello retired Saturday after 26 years of service. He is better known as "D.A.R.E. Officer Dave" to East Haven school students.

EAST HAVEN, CT - After a distinguished career, East Haven Police Officer Dave Torello worked his last shift on Saturday.
Officer Torello is retiring today after 26 years of service. Officer Torello is better known as D.A.R.E. Officer Dave.
He became the department's D.A.R.E. Officer in 2011.

D.A.R.E. is a national program that educates students about substance abuse and violence to help them learn to make better life choices today and tomorrow. The curriculum includes information about making smart decisions regarding tobacco and alcohol use.
In his role, Torello interacted with thousands of East Haven young people as they made their way through the school system.

Torello first became a police officer in Ansonia in 1991. He joined the ranks in East Haven in 1993.
Just this week the East Haven Rotary Club awarded their annual Joseph Buonome Memorial Public Safety Award to Torello.
