Allen, LaFountain, Sheiber: Recent Death Notices From Ellington And Somers

Condolences are extended to the families and friends of those who have recently died.

ELLINGTON-SOMERS, CT — Here are some recent death notices from Ellington and Somers.

Charles Allen Jr., 97, of Ellington, cherished husband of the late Margaret (Gessay) Allen, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025. An avid baseball fan, Charlie tuned into every Red Sox game and was rarely ever seen without his Red Sox baseball cap on. He could also be found every morning at the Chuck Wagon enjoying a cup of coffee, and spent many afternoons filling the neighborhood of Newell Hill with the melodious sounds of his organ. He was a founding member of St. Luke's Church.

Russell LaFountain, 63, of Somers, entered into eternal rest on April 26, 2025. Hebuilt a proud and accomplished career in the construction industry, known for his hard work, dedication and skill. A true outdoorsman, he found peace and joy in hunting and fishing, but his greatest passions were riding his motorcycles and spending time with his three daughters and his beloved dog, Moose.

Gloriajean Sheiber, 72, of Somers, passed on April 3, 2025. She lived her entire life in the family home in Somers, graduated from Somers High School in 1971 and went on to Westfield State College, graduating in 1975 with a BA in education. Gloriajean taught school in the Agawam school system for 38 ½ years at the Robinson Park and Granger Schools, and student taught in the Canary Islands. She retired in 2012 and took care of her mom, and worked as a Registrar of Voters for the Democratic Committee in Somers.
