Janet (Semanie) Bowers, 88, formerly of Somers and Cape Cod, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025. After attending American International College, she worked at Hamilton Standard, where she met her future husband, Richard Bowers. Jan also dedicated over 25 years to the medical field before her well-earned retirement. She spent more than three decades in Somers, where she became deeply rooted in the life of the town. She was an active presence in the Somers Republican Committee and gave generously of her time as a volunteer with the Friends of the Library, Somers and Harwich Recreation Committees and Special Olympics of Massachusetts. Janet and Richard held a special place in their hearts for the Somers Lacrosse Association, where their dedication left a lasting impact.

Frederick Drake Jr., 73, of Chesterfield, Mass. and formerly of Somers, passed away unexpectedly on May 14, 2025 in County Clare, Ireland after a wonderful trip with family. Freddy graduated from Enfield High School in 1969, where he met and went on to marry his high school sweetheart, Marianne Smith, celebrating 52 years of marriage as a devoted husband. He graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, and retired from the Connecticut Air National Guard as a senior master sergeant after 20 years of service in administration. He went on to have a very successful career in sales and consulting for the Plimpton and Hills HVAC company, making friends all over the country and serving on the National HVAC Board.
