Coles, Heim, Margotta, Thompson: Recent Death Notices From Ellington

ELLINGTON, CT — Here are some recent death notices from Ellington.

Marty Coles, 67, passed unexpectedly from this life into Eternal Paradise on Feb. 25, 2025 due to sudden heart complications. He had many jobs and hobbies, starting with cleaning dog kennels at the age of 14 to being an accomplished carpenter for 40 years. He enjoyed restoring classic cars, collecting antiques and saving religious treasures. He dedicated 30 years of his life to a religious mission and served to spread the word of God to all.

Barbara (Dowgiewicz) Helm, 83, beloved wife of departed Ronald (Ronnie) Helm, passed away on Feb. 25, 2025. She was a humble person who enjoyed bowling, gardening and her volunteer work at Ellington Community Center.

Cynthia (Stuart) Margotta, 86, beloved wife of 56 years of the late Kenneth Margotta, passed away unexpectedly on Feb. 28, 2025. She very much enjoyed being a member of a painting class for over ten years that developed into a close-knit group of dear friends. She also took part in the painting classes at the Ellington Senior Center. Cindi was an avid vegetable gardener and took joy in canning the vegetables she grew and all sorts of cooking.

Charles (Mark) Thompson, 69, beloved husband, father and Pappa, passed away unexpectedly at home on Feb. 18, 2025. He was a proud Navy veteran who worked with the submarine service and the Tomahawk missile program. He worked for Aetna Life Insurance Co. in Hartford for 30 years in the telecommunications field before retiring in 2011. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on his cars, riding his motorcycle and target shooting.
