Ellington and Somers Arrests Include Larceny, Operating Under the Influence

A vehicle was traveling west on Windermere Avenue, west of Lower Butcher Road. The operator, an 18-year-old Ellington woman, looked down momentarily and the vehicle continued on the slight curve and struck a utility pole and a town street sign. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the woman was transported to Hartford Hospital for evaluation for complaint of pain. She was charged with making a restricted turn.

Aug. 1

State police responded to Heritage Drive in Somers for a reported larceny. The investigation determined that several electronics were missing from a porch. This case is still under investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Trooper Davison at 860-896-3200 ext. 8012 with any information.

A vehicle was traveling north on Abbott Rd in Ellington when it was stopped for a motor vehicle violation. Further investigation determined that the operator, Nicolas Gary Elliott, 19, of 26 Hillsdale Dr. in Ellington, was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. He was taken into custody and charged with failure to display plates, possession of alcohol by a minor on a public street, and operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol.

Aug. 3

At approximately 9:38 p.m., a trooper was dispatched to Crystal Lake in Ellington. A vehicle leaving the area was found to be a stolen motor vehicle. The operator, Shawn Presey, 21, of 18 South Whitney St. in Hartford, was taken into custody and transported to Troop C. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle without a license and third-degree larceny. Presey was held on a $5,000 bond and was scheduled to appear on Aug. 4.
