Motorcycle Driver Killed In Upstate NY Crash Identified As Ellington Resident

CANAAN, NY — The driver of a motorcycle killed in a crash in Canaan, NY, Sunday has been identified by New York State Police as an Ellington man.

The crash took place a 2:50 p.m. on state Route 22, a popular touring route, particularly this time of year.

Investigators said that a 2024 Porsche was traveling south on Route 22 when it attempted to make a left turn and failed to yield the right of way to a 2014 Harley-Davidson traveling northbound. The operator of the Harley-Davidson was ejected from the motorcycle and airlifted to Albany Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries, New York State Police said.

He was later identified as Michael J. Landry, 65, of Ellington, New York State Police said.

The driver of the Porsche, an 85-year-old Niskayuna, NY, man, was transported to Berkshire Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, New York State Police said.
