Blame It On The Rain: Enfield Halloween Celebration Canceled

The popular Enfield Police Department 'Trunk or Treat' event was slated to take place Thursday evening.

ENFIELD, CT — A popular Halloween celebration in Enfield is canceled this year, no thanks to Mother Nature.

The Enfield Police Department's annual "Trunk or Treat" event, originally slated for Thursday, Oct. 30, has been canceled due to the heavy rainstorm expected, the EPD announced Tuesday.

"Due to the forecasted high wind gusts and heavy rain, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Trunk or Treat event," wrote the EPD.

"The safety of our participants, families, and volunteers is our top priority, and the expected weather conditions would make it unsafe to hold the event outdoors."

"Trunk or Treat" was to take place at Enfield Town Hall from 5:30 to 7:30 Thursday evening, with music and candy handed out by volunteers who park their car and decorate their trunk.
