Chickosky, Delaney, Duga, Jackle: Recent Death Notices From Enfield

ENFIELD, CT — Here are some recent death notices from Enfield.
Captain Alexander Kenneth Chickosky, 82, beloved husband of 53 years of Maurine Chickosky, passed away peacefully, taking his final flight on April 23, 2025. He lived to work because his job as a pilot for Delta Air Lines allowed him to fulfill his true life’s passion, flying. He was never happier than at 30,000 feet. He served his country honorably in the Air National Guard. He was also a third generation farmer, a skilled tobacco man who owned and operated one of the largest shade tobacco farms in the Connecticut River Valley, Enfield Shade Tobacco.
William Delaney, 83, husband of the late Susan (Browne) Delaney, died from complications of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) on April 26, 2025 with his loving family by his side. Bill was a three-sport athlete and proud graduate of Enfield High School, Class of 1961. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was deployed to Vietnam in 1962. Bill was an “advisor” for the Army during the early years of the Vietnam War, from 1962-1964, earning an honorable discharge. Upon his arrival back in the States, Bill started his career in the aerospace industry as a parts inspector at Advanced Manufacturing in Westfield, Mass., retiring after 30 years.

Robert Duga, 87, devoted husband of 65 years of Darlene (Smith) Duga, entered into eternal rest on May 6, 2025. A proud graduate of Lowell Technical Institute, where he earned his degree in mechanical engineering, he was employed at such industry giants as Emhart, Gerber Scientific and Hamilton Standard. Robert was the holder of many patents, and had the distinction of inventing the injection molding for plastic bottles and being part of the team who designed the space suits for the first moon walk. He and Darlene owned and operated Meineke Mufflers in Chicopee, where they worked side by side until their retirement.
Erwin "Herm" Jackle, 84, beloved husband of 52 years of Peggy (Kyle) Jackle, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025, with his family by his side. He retired from the former Brand-Rex Corporation, where he brought diligence and intelligence to his work. Herm was a lifelong learner with an insatiable curiosity and a deep appreciation for the world around him. He found joy in life’s simple pleasures - reading a good book, going for a long walk or run, and watching his favorite teams, the Boston Red Sox and Celtics.
