Dollar General Opens New Retail Store in Southern Enfield

The second Enfield location for the retail chain is on Raffia Road, next to John F. Kennedy Middle School.

ENFIELD, CT — Another discount retail store has opened in Enfield, with a second Dollar General location joining the long-existing site on Route 5.

The new store opened last week at 161 Raffia Road, between John F. Kennedy Middle School and Four Corners Package Store. Construction went fairly quickly, as the property owner, MCG Enfield LLC, just acquired the 2.38-acre site in April, according to town land records.

Dollar General, founded in 1939 in Scottsville, Kentucky, has grown into one of the nation's leading retailers, with nearly 20,000 locations in 46 states, plus Mexico. Its stores deliver everyday low prices on items including food, snacks, health and beauty aids, cleaning supplies, basic apparel, housewares, seasonal items and paper products.

The chain sells products from national name brands like Hanes, Procter & Gamble, Nestle, Kellogg's, PepsiCo., Energizer and many more, plus a number of high-quality private brands.

There are now 71 Dollar General locations in Connecticut. Hours for the new Enfield store are daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
