ENFIELD, CT — Preliminary numbers tabulated in Tuesday's municipal election indicate a switch to a Republican majority on the Enfield Town Council and Board of Education.

With absentee ballots received after noon Tuesday still to be counted, and recounts slated for a pair of close races for council district spots, Republicans have clinched six of the 11 council seats and five positions on the 9-member school board.

Final vote totals will not be official until confirmed by the Secretary of the State's office, likely Wednesday morning.
