Davis moved to Enfield with her family from New York state in 2021. She joined the Eagle wrestling team and won four matches in the 2022-23 season - two against boys and two in the CIAC girls state tournament.

"Megan was the best mix of sweet and sarcastic," Enfield Wrestling Club president and family friend Megan McNally told Patch. "She was always making everyone laugh. She was able to befriend anyone, and often did. She was a dedicated to anything and everything she set her mind to. She will be so sorely missed by so many which is a testimony to how very loved she will continue to be."

Enfield High School principal Erin Clark said, "Our school community was deeply saddened to learn that Megan Davis passed away tragically in a car accident. Megan, a 12th grade student at Enfield High School, was beloved by her classmates and teachers. Her teachers described her as kind and friendly and as someone who could light up a room with her infectious smile and playful personality. She was described as inquisitive, curious and enthusiastic. During this difficult time, we encourage our students and families to reach out to the school for support. Enfield High School offered resources for grieving students on Tuesday and Wednesday at the J.F.K Middle School library. School counselors, social workers and staff from Enfield Youth Services are available to meet with individual students or groups of students as needed, and should contact our school counseling office or school administration for assistance. We offer our most heartfelt condolences to the family and of those in our community impacted by this heartbreaking loss. Megan will be greatly missed by all who knew her."

A GoFundMe account has been established to help the Davis family with funeral expenses. As of mid-afternoon Wednesday, more than $14,000 has been raised.

"I worked with Megan’s mom for years," organizer Wesley Fisher wrote. "She was one of the most sacrificing people I know. She is an incredibly hard worker as well. She gave everything for her family, and loves and cares for them very much. This has really taken such an emotional toll on their family. I can’t say much about Megan, but in the few times I met her, she was a bright kid with a great future. This family continues to feel pain and grief I can’t express or completely relate to."

Relatives and friends may join her family on Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 4-7 p.m. at Browne Memorial Chapels, 43 Shaker Rd., Enfield. "We encourage you to wear Megan’s favorite color - green," McNally said.
