ENFIELD, CT — A lengthy investigation into a case involving possible possession of child sex abuse images resulted in the granting of a warrant, and the eventual arrest of an Enfield resident.

Zachary Owens, 25, of Enfield, turned himself in Friday afternoon at police headquarters on a warrant charging him with first-degree possession of child sex abuse materials. He was released on a $50,000 non-surety bond, Police Chief Alaric Fox said.

According to an extensive affidavit supporting Owens' arrest, police were given a tip in June by the National Center For Missing and Exploited Children. The complaint originated from Yahoo, citing possible possession of lewd materials involving children, Fox said.

Upon investigation which led police to Owens, a search warrant for his IP address at his home was granted. An email containing four attachments, depicting boys aged 10 to 12 in illicit sexual conduct, were discovered, Fox said.

The computer yielded 22 images and one video of child pornography, Fox said.
