Enfield Recreation Department Announces Fall Events
Events include yoga class, multi-sport programs and EYBL.

The 2016-2017 EYBL information is now available online for viewing on the Recreation Department homepage. Registration began on Friday, Sept. 23 at 9 a.m. The registration deadline for grades 3-12 is Friday, Oct. 7. To guarantee placement on a team you must register and pay in full by the deadline. This program is for Enfield residents only. Fee is $90 per player.
The Enfield Recreation Department hosts open-gym basketball time for adults 20 and over. Participants must show proof of age and residency to participate in addition to having a program waiver on at the gym. The program will be held Oct. 3 – March 26, check website for no program dates. Daily fee is $2 for residents and $2.50 for non-residents. The schedule is as followed:

- Mondays, 6-9 p.m. for 20 and older: JFK Middle Schoo
- Wednesdays, 6-9 p.m. for 30 and older: JFK Middle School
- Saturdays, 8-11 a.m. for 40 and older: Angelo Lamagna Activity Center
Playgroup
This is a great chance for you and your child to meet other families in Enfield and share experiences and first hand secrets of raising children. Your child will be able to explore, learn and play with educational toys and games while moms, dads or caregivers have the chance to socialize. Playgroup is an ongoing program, so registration is not necessary; however you must be an Enfield resident to participate. Please note that a participant waiver must be on file with the instructor which can be filled out the first day you attend. There is no play group when school is delayed or closed due to weather. The program runs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, Oct. through Dec. 23 from 9:30-11 a.m. at the Angelo Lamagna Activity Center. There is no cost for this program.

Yoga
Do you want to release some stress and live a healthier lifestyle this fall? If so, this is the perfect class for you. Yoga will bring balance, breath awareness, stamina and flexibility to the body and mind. Students will be able to work at their own level, modifying poises as needed. Participants are encouraged to bring a yoga mat to class. Classes will be held Tuesdays, Oct. 11–Dec. 13 from 6:15- 7:30 p.m. at Parkman School. Fee is $37.50 for residents and $47 for non-Residents. Pre-registration is required.
October Craft Class
Join the Enfield Recreation Department for our monthly craft class. October’s class will get you ready for Halloween! Participants will create a Halloween Scene and a 3D Haunted House. Fee includes all supplies and materials. Class will be held Saturday, October 22nd 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. and is $2 per person. Pre-registration is required as spaces are limited. Tiny Hawks Multi-Sport Programs
A multi-sport program for ages 3 and 4 years old. Participants will learn the fundamentals of soccer and basketball. Skills will be taught in a safe, structured environment with lots of encouragement and a big focus on fun. Classes are held on Tuesdays, October 11 – November 8th, 5 – 5:50 p.m. Fee is $70 residents, $80 non-residents. Pre-registration is required for this program. Registration can be done online or in person at the recreation office. Spaces are limited and fill quickly. Don’t delay; register today.

Open-gym volleyball for adults 18 and up is held on Wednesdays, Oct. 5 – April 5, 6 – 9 p.m. at the Eli Whitney School Gym. Check website for no program dates. Participants must show proof of age and residency to participate in addition to having a program waiver on at the gym. Daily fee is $2 for residents and $2.50 for non-residents.
First and Second-Grade Instructional Basketball
A co-ed instructional program for boys and girls in grades 1 and 2 will be held on Sunday afternoons at JFK Middle School beginning on Jan. 8. The program will consist of eight, one hour sessions in which participants will work in groups rotating through skill stations to learn the fundamentals of basketball. The program will be run by Recreation Department staff however, we are asking for parent volunteers to help supervise participants at each station. In the final weeks of the program participants will be split up into groups to scrimmage. Note: this is a drop-off program. Parents will only be allowed into the gym for the last two classes. Registration will be limited to 80 participants (40 per session) and will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis. This program is for Enfield residents only. Participants may register for one of three time slots. FEE: $35.00 per participant. Registration Deadline: Friday, December 9, 2016 at 5:00 PM or when the program is full.
