Enfield Stood Up for Public Education—and for Every Student
Community participation proved that Enfield's future begins with its students.

To the Enfield Community,
As a mom, and as someone who cares deeply about the future of our town, I want to begin with the simplest and most heartfelt message I can offer: thank you. Thank you for showing up. Thank you for asking questions. Thank you for voting, engaging, debating, and investing your time and energy into something that isn’t always easy, but is always worth it—our children.
This election season wasn’t just about candidates or campaigns. It was about what we value. And your participation—across every neighborhood, every viewpoint, every conversation—sent a clear, powerful message: Enfield believes its youngest residents matter.

Public education is one of the greatest responsibilities we share. It’s the foundation that prepares our students not only to read, write, and think critically, but to honor differences, to problem-solve, to dream big, and to build a future stronger than the one they inherit. We mandate education because we know how essential it is—not just for individual success, but for the health of our entire community.
As a mom, I see the small things that don’t make headlines: the shaky first-day-of-school nerves, the big transitions to new schools, the worries our kids carry that didn’t exist just a few years ago. And I also see the magic—the teachers who go above and beyond, the staff who show up every single day with heart, the moments of growth and confidence that remind us exactly why this work matters.

And that’s why your engagement means so much. When our community shows up for education, we’re not just voting on policies or budgets—we’re showing our kids that they are worth fighting for. That they belong. That they deserve a school system where they are welcomed, supported, affirmed, and challenged to be their fullest selves.
We may not always agree on every issue, and that’s okay. Diversity of thought is part of what makes this country remarkable. But here in this shared space of public education, we have a collective responsibility: to ensure that all students—every single one—has access to safe, strong, inclusive schools where they can learn and thrive.
Thank you for believing in that vision. Thank you for investing in our children. Thank you for trusting us—your Board of Education—to carry that responsibility forward with integrity, honesty, and intention.
Our work continues, together. And our kids are watching—all the more reason to show them what a hopeful, engaged, student-centered community looks like.
With gratitude and commitment,
Cam and Tess’ Mom - Amanda Pickett
