Injured Red-Tailed Hawk Saved By Enfield Police Officer

ENFIELD, CT — An Enfield police officer is being credited with saving the life of an injured hawk early Tuesday morning.

Officer Shane Lewis was dispatched to the area of Moody Road upon receiving a report about an injured bird. The red-tailed hawk appeared to have struck a window, police said.

The bird was transported to A Place Called Hope Birds of Prey Rehabilitation Center in Killingworth. After about six hours of rest, the hawk regained its strength and was safely released from the police department by Animal Control, police said.
