'It's A Sobering Feeling'

The Bosco Brothers sent a truck from their garage to pick up two beams from the World Trade Center that will be part of the 9/11 Memorial Garden in front of the firehouse on Weymouth Road.

Family, that’s what it’s about.

That’s what led Joseph Bosco and his brothers, Charles, Angelo and John, to send a truck and driver down from their garage located near the Massachusetts state line to New York City in February. The precious cargo: two 18-foot beams from the World Trade Center’s north tower.

“Let me tell you, the one thing … think of the pride … of how many people who had the honor of taking them beams down the highway ...,” he said.

Joe remembers the day the towers fell as vividly as he does the first time he touched the beams before taking them off the truck in Enfield.

“When I first put my hand on them beams I could almost feel the electricity running through them … how many people perished over these beams. It’s a sobering feeling.”

The beams will be placed in front of the Enfield firehouse on Weymouth Road as part of the town’s . They will be feet away from the red memorial brick the Bosco boys purchased to help raise money for the memorial in memory of their parents, Angelo and Mary.

“Everything we do, we do as a family.”
