Enfield Adult Education teacher Jim Malley will discuss the carpet and powder mill history and give an overview of tobacco, dairy, potato, and poultry farms. Malley will show how Enfield began to change when the carpet industry moved parts of its operation south in the 1950s, and construction of Interstate 91 was completed, bringing shopping malls and industrial parks along Elm Street and Hazard Avenue. The presentation will also look at Enfield Adult and Continuing Education fall 2024 offerings. This presentation will be on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 2:30 p.m. Reserve a seat by calling 860-763-7425.
