ENFIELD, CT — A 68-year-old man died late Monday morning in a workplace accident when he was struck by a skid steer which was backing up, according to police.

The man, a Springfield resident whose identity has not yet been released, was working at Lindy Farms on Fletcher Road around 11:18 a.m. and was apparently bent over, therefore he could not be seen by the skid steer operator, police said.

Police Chief Alaric Fox said the victim worked at the facility, but was not sure if he was an employee or a long-term contractor. He added there was "no criminal element" to the accident.
