New Enfield Train Station Funds Announced
Governor, senators and congressman among dignitaries at special event in Enfield Thursday.

ENFIELD, CT — Top state leaders today attended a press conference in town to unveil large plans to build a new train station in town, something local officials say could be an aid to economic development.
Expected at the event were Gov. Ned Lamont, U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney, D-2nd District, U.S. Sen. Chris. Murphy, D-Conn., and U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., among other local and state officials.
According to the Hartford Business Journal, the train station in town would cost $13.8 million, with that amount already approved by the state Bond Commission.

The announcement was made at Bigelow Commons on Main Street.
"Thrilled to announce we've secured federal funding to build the #Enfield Train Station—a new stop on the successful Hartford Line," wrote Courtney on Twitter. "My office worked with the Town of Enfield, @CTDOTOfficial & leaders across CT to make this project a reality. Now we can look forward to construction."
