ENFIELD, CT — Nine custodians at Enfield High School were terminated Monday, with town officials charging them with "theft of time," according to Director of Human Resources Steven Bielenda.

Each of the terminated employees worked second shift, Bielenda said. They had been employed by the Enfield Custodial Service Division of the Department of Public Works, since the town moved responsibility for school building maintenance to the town side from the public school system in the late 2000s.

"Because we anticipate future litigation regarding these terminations, I am not at liberty to elaborate further details at this time," Bielenda told Patch.
