ENFIELD, CT — Heavy rain and an occasional thunderstorm may have hindered attendance at the 98th Enfield Italian Festival, but the uncooperative weather hardly out a damper on the enthusiasm of festival organizers and those who braved the elements to enjoy three days of music and family fun.

Organized by members of the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Society, the feast ran Friday through Sunday evenings, with a traditional outdoor Mass spoken partially in Italian on Sunday morning.

"We've had feasts where it rained one or two days, but never have we had all three days get hit," Society president Carl Sferrazza told Patch. "Nonetheless, we are appreciative of all the people who braved the weather and came out to enjoy themselves."

The event featured rides, games, outstanding live music from area favorites and of course, homemade Italian delicacies such as pasta fagioli, sausage and peppers, ziti and meatballs, pizza, fried dough and assorted pastries.

Backstage Pass and Brass Attack performed Friday, while Cold Train and Johnny Sixgun took the stage Saturday. Italian favorites from vocalist Jenna Esposito closed the festival Sunday.
