ENFIELD, CT — Grief counseling services will be available at Enfield High School Friday from noon to 2 p.m., in the wake of the unexpected tragic passing Wednesday of a beloved student-athlete who recently graduated from the school.

Students, alumni, staff and community members are welcome to express their feelings and emotions regarding the loss of Jayden Levesque with counselors. Track and field coach Chris Mahl will also be on hand to offer support.

"Grief can come when you least expect it, and talking to someone can be very helpful," administrator Shannon Grant wrote on the Enfield High Parents Facebook page.

In a letter to parents and families Thursday, Principal Erin Clark wrote, "Jayden was beloved by the track team, his classmates, and teachers. He is described by educators as an incredibly caring and empathetic individual who was deeply devoted to his friends and always quick to crack a joke or brighten the mood with his smile and laughter."

According to the site Enfield High School Athletics Students in Action, a candlelight vigil has been organized Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. at the high school track. Participants are asked to bring their own candle if possible, due to a possible shortage.
