Serious Injuries Sustained In Motorcycle Vs. SUV Crash In Enfield

ENFIELD, CT — A portion of Weymouth Road was closed for several hours Friday night due to a serious collision involving a motorcycle and an SUV, according to police.

The crash occurred around 5:25 p.m. on King Street, or Route 5, at the junction of Weymouth. The motorcycle operator, a 60-year-old man from South Windsor, was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Hartford for treatment of suspected serious injuries. The occupants of the SUV, including the 50-year-old driver from Enfield, were treated at the same hospital for suspected minor injuries, police said.

Investigation of the crash led to closure of Weymouth Road from Route 5 to Hickory Lane, according to an alert delivered at 6:10 p.m. by the town's Everbridge notification system.

The collision remains under investigation by the Enfield Police Department Traffic Division, and anyone with information is asked to call Officer Jeff Peterson at 860-763-8920.
